Flying Footographs

Ricky Reyna measure his foot up against a Southwest Airlines 737 as he prepares to end his quick trip to Las Vegas.

Toni Reyna and her son, Ricky, put their feet up to relax on the plane leaving Las Vegas since all they did was walk up and down the strip in Sin City!

On the trip home from Las Vegas, Delia Ramirez tries not to show us her entire foot because "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas!"

Flying aboard a WWII era B-29 Bomber over Hollywood, California, Jason Smith is "seeking out good targets" from the bombadier station in the front bubble of the bomber. The other shoe might finally drop on the Hollywood film industry!
From the catwalk in the bomb bay of the B-29, Jason Smith grabs this footograph shortly after kicking that bomb in the bottom of the picture "just to make sure it was a dud." Hmm.

Over Long Beach, California, Jason Smith and Maria were taking a nice blue sky footograph when guess what wandered into their shot?! Yup, the Goodyear Blimp. Nicely done!

Houston's William P. Hobby Airport has gone through some major changes in recent years. Houston's drab old "second airport" has become an oustanding example of how an in-city airport can be revitalized by the presence of Southwest Airlines! The construction continues as can be seen in the footograph taken by Tim Smith.

It was Sarai Valdez's very first flight and she had the courage to take a footograph at 35,000 feet! She was going it alone, flying to meet her husband in a far away land. This footograph was taken somewhere over the heart of Texas!

This is Pam Schuler's very tired foot and two unused tickets - getting ready for the third attempt to get a flight outof Phoenix to Dallas and eventually St. Maarten. A three day delay becaused of rain/flooding did not stop this determined foot from frolicking on the beach!

On the grand tour of Washington DC, Taylor Smith and her family visited the National Air and Space Museum to see all of the great flying machines. She grabbed this footograph on the way in (or maybe on the way out).

This footo is on the about-to-open MISSILE HATCH of the still-functioning Nike/Herculese missile battery, just north of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco . The missile below the hatch used to carry a 40- kiloton atomic warhead. The name " Nike " is taken from the quick- sprinting Roman messenger god, not from Nike shoes (like the one in the picture.) That's Jason Smith's foot about to be launched into oblivion!

Tim and Nora Smith show their feet at Nassau International Airport in the Bahamas as they prepare to board that little jet for the trip back to Texas. While barefoot in the Bahamas is perfectly OK, Tim and Nora put shoes back on once back in the States. Kind of a sign the vacation was over.

On the jetway while boarding Continental Flight 2347 from Nassau to Houston, Tim Smith shows of the bare foot one last time before heading for home.
Flying through hyperspace, Jason Smith manages to get his foot into the windshield of the Millenium Falcon (Star Wars) for this outstanding flying footograph. While Jason thought he was living his dream, he was actually at the California Science Center in Los Angeles enjoying the "Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination" exhibit. Very cool!

Hoping this missile wasn't about to blast off, 2nd Lieutenant Yesenia Cabrera of the 71st Troop Command in Austin, Texas uses her cell phone to grab this fatigued footograph. The footo is taken at the old Army Nike Missile Site near Austin. We're told to rest assured, the missile is not functional.

As final preparations are being completed for the X-Prize Cup 2006, Jason Smith pauses for this footograph in front of the entrance to the event. Thousands of people pour into the Las Cruces International Airport in New Mexico for "Earth's Great Space Exposition." See many more footos from the X-Prize Cup below.

Inside the NASA exhibit at the X-Prize Cup, Jason Smith prepares to be teleported to other planets - and beyond!
Still at the X-Prize Cup, this footograph shows the "teleportation" effect which took Jason Smith and his foot to the surface of Mars and Jupiter's moon Io.

Teleportation complete! Jason Smith was successfully "telported" to the surface of the moon for this footograph. As you can see, the feeling of walking on the moon is so real you can reach out and touch it with your foot. If astronauts could only wear such comfortable shoes!
Here is the real spacesuit foot at the NASA exhibit at the X-Prize Cup. No sneakers or flip-flops here. Thanks to Jason Smith for all the great footographs from the 2006 X-Prize Cup in New Mexico.

At the X Prize Cup, "Earth's Great Space Exposition," in Las Cruces, New Mexico, Jason Smith poses for this "spacewalk" footograph. Use your imagination...pretty creative, eh?

NASA Scientist Chris Ramsey and Hollywood filmmaker Jason Smith pose for this footograph in front of the full size space shuttle simulator at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas.

This footograph was taken at the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC. The Lunar Landing Module used on the Apollo missions to the moon is on display in the background, Tim Smith's foot is on display in the foreground.
Should this Saturn V engine blast off, this footograph would need to be moved to the Hot Feet section of FeetInFamousPlaces. For now, Jason Smith, his foot, and the Saturn V rocket on display at the Johnson Space Center in Houston - are safe on this page.

Just outside of Reagan National Airport in Washington, DC, Tim Smith poses for this footograph along the Metro train track.

Valerie Bates took this footograph while banking over the Gulf of Mexico in a "modified" Cessna 172. South Padre Island, the Queen Isabella Causeway and Port Isabel are visible in the background. That's Valerie's foot on the strut of the plane. "Modified" as it turns out, is what the removal of the doors of a Cessna 172 will do to its stock classification.
After a long flight from Minneapolis, Dave Smith gets his feet - OK, one foot, planted firmly on the ground so he can hold the other foot in the air for this footograph at Los Angeles International Airport.
At South Padre Island, Texas, Taylor Smith's foot dwarfs parasailers Alissa Guardiola and Angie Martinez.
At South Padre Island, Texas: Alisa Guardiola's foot- Taylor Smith and Gabriela Guardiola in the air.
