The Hit Of Cinesol.
The Coastal Winds Footograph of the Month!

While it was not our first footograph from the Appalachian Trail, this is certainly an extra-special one. This is Brandon Smith's foot at Clingman's Dome, the highest point on the Appalachian Trail. For his hike to "The Dome", Brandon earns Coastal Winds Footograph of the Month honors for November 2008! Congrats.

This footograph could fit into several categories - but we've chosen Jungle Feet for our first Armadillo footo ...or ...footadillo. That is Jim Campbell's foot at Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge on a night when he and his wife Darlene were out photographing wildlife. Jim says "This young nine-banded armadillo came right up to my foot and was as curious about me as I was about him." Footo by Darlene Campbell. Congratulations to the Campbells for having their very unique footograph chosen as the Coastal Winds Footograph of the Month!

Near South Padre Island, Texas with the Queen Isabella Causeway as a backdrop, Alysa Guardiola snapped this footograph while her sister Gabriella and her cousin Taylor Smith were parasailing high above the Laguna Madre. This creative footo earns Alysa the Coastal Winds Footograph of the Month.

Richard Hagan retired to a place where he could run barefooted through his backyard! What a backyard it is in the Davis Mountains of West Texas. And those bare feet have never looked better than in this footograph - chosen for the October 2007 Coastal Winds Footograph of the Month.

With what has to be one of the most creative submissions to the website, Sarai Valdez wins the September 2007 Coastal Winds Footograph Of The Month. That's webmaster Tim Smith doing his "real" job in the background and Sarai's foot in the foreground. Nicely done!

Erika Loff posed for this footograph, while she was sitting on a dock on the island of Utila in Honduras . She is looking across the bay and south toward the mainland of Honduras . The mountain in the background is Pico Bonito. The footograph was sent to us by Erika's father Jack Loff. Erika's prize package is on its way from the great folks at Coastal Winds in Port Isabel, Texas.

The June Footograph of the Month is Nora Smith - boarding El Arca on the Amazon River in Peru. This footo was taken at the beginning of a three day cruise down the river from Iquitos, Peru. At the end of the cruise, Nora and her travelling companions boarded a speedboat for a 4 hour ride to Columbia where the spent the night in a hotel then travelled back to Iquitos on the speedboat....a 12 hour speedboat ride. Ugh. Worthy, certainly, of the June FOTM award from Coastal Winds in Port Isabel, Texas.

Above the raging Rio Grande on the International Bridge connecting Progreso, Texas and Nuevo Progreso, Tamaulipas, Mexico, Jason Smith raises his foot in a bi-national salute. While his big toe is currently an illegal alien in Mexico - the rest of his toes are still clearly in his homeland of the USA. That puts a majority of his right foot in the United States...and while the left side put up a tough fight, the right side convinced the left and Jason came back to America.

March 2007: This footograph got a LOT of looks. The footographer forgot the concept of feet only, but that's OK...this footo shows how dedicated some of our contributors are! This was taken in Giza, Egypt with the Great Sphnix in the background. The Great Sphnix guards the way to Khafre's Pyramids. Missing nose and beard were shot off during target practice by soldiers hundreds of years ago. Congratulations to footographers Roxi Mann and Miriam Smart for having their footo chosen as Footograph Of The Month for the month of March 2007.

February 2007: At the headwaters of the Mississippi River in Northern Minnesota, Dave Smith braves the chilly water to get this footograph. His bravery has been rewarded by the great folks at Coastal Winds - who chose this footo as the February Footograph of the Month. Dave's prize package is on its way!

January 2007: Pam Shuler of Arizona wins the January FOTM with this footograph at the ancient observatory at Chichen Itza on the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico. Pam will be receiving a pair of South Padre Island flip-flops from Coastal Winds of Port Isabel, Texas. Congratulations Pam! Keep taking the great footographs.
November 2006: Congratulations to Amber Bates of Port Isabel, Texas. That's her foot on the left side of this footograph taken by her mother Valerie Bates at the World Championship Shrimp Cookoff in Port Isabel. Valerie is a regular contributor to FeetInFamousPlaces.com but this is Amber's first appearance on the website. Amber wins a pair of South Padre Island flip-flops courtesy of Coastal Winds, Inc. in Port Isabel, Texas.

OCTOBER: Rick Ramirez of San Juan, Texas grabbed this footograph while relaxing at Minute Maid Park in Houston during a recent Astros game.

SEPTEMBER: Without a doubt, one of the most famous places in the Southwestern United States is the legendary Alamo. Originally called Mision San Antonio De Valero, construction began on this historic structure in 1724. In the early 1800s, the Spanish military stationed a cavalry unit at the former mission. The soldiers referred to the old mission as the Alamo (the Spanish word for "cottonwood") in honor of their hometown Alamo de Parras, Coahuila. The post's commander established the first recorded hospital in Texas in the Long Barrack. The Alamo was home to both Revolutionaries and Royalists during Mexico's ten-year struggle for independence. The military — Spanish, Rebel, and then Mexican — continued to occupy the Alamo until the Texas Revolution. Click here for more on the history of the Alamo. The Alamo is always open for tours although photographs and recordings are not allowed inside the main building. Congratulations to Taylor Smith of San Antonio for having her footograph selected as the FeetInFamousPlaces.com footograph of the month!

AUGUST: Nora Smith and other coaches from Edinburg North High School travelled to the Amazon Jungle during the summer of 2006. After flying into Lima, then Iquitos, the group boarded a riverboat for a four day cruise on the Amazon River. This is one of several footographs submitted by the group.
