Long before interstate 395 ran through Washington, DC, US 50 was the main thoroughfare across the city. Footographer Tim Smith is watched closely by satellite, capital police, metro police, city police etc as he raised his foot for this footograph. Security in DC is very, very tight. Make no sudden movements - kind of thing!

In Ocean City, Maryland, Frank Strait found this sign indicating a bathroom stop may be needed before reaching Sacramento. This is the Eastern end (or the beginning) or Route 50.
